Beyond the Box Score: Six is a Crowd at Running Back

Published

on

For our PSN Die-Hards, we go beyond the box score with play tracking, analysis, depth charts and participation from each Pitt football game.

Last season, we tracked Pitt’s five running backs and how they each did each week in yards per carry and passing target, attempting to decipher which of Pitt’s plethora of backs was having the most success in moving the offense down the field.

This season, all five backs returned, plus the team has added freshman Rodney Hammond Jr. to the mix, so there’s one more player to keep track of. They can’t possibly use all six players going forward, and there are more considerations than just who moves the ball the best, but I think the names at the top of this list will surprise many.
