Daniel Skillings is a 6-foot-6, 195-pound wing who plays for Roman Catholic in Philadelphia. The four-star has been one of the highest risers this summer in terms of offers and rankings, after picking up over 20 offers as well as shooting into the top-100 (No. 92) on the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
Skillings is ranked as highly as No. 40 in the nation, that is according to On3.com’s first set of rankings. Pitt made the list alongside Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Miami, NC State, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Temple, St. Johns, and Georgia. Over the weekend, the Philly native took his first official visit, heading out to Cincinnati for the trip.
Pitt was the last school to offer Pitt out of the bunch, extending the offer on Aug. 16.
Blessed to receive an Offer from University Of Pittsburg! GO PANTHERS💙💛!! pic.twitter.com/XYlz1FEjTQ
Skillings is a bouncy, athletic wing with solid outside shooting mechanics and consistency as well as an excellent handle for his size.
“Daniel is the best rising senior in the city,” said Amauro Austin, director of Philly Pride AAU, in an interview with cityofbasketballlove.com. “He can really do it all. When I got him, he was already good, but very, very raw. He was very athletic, long, and was aggressive and had some skill. He wasn’t really taught anything. He’s an awesome kid who’s easy to work with. Danny plays hard, extremely hard.”
Well we’re listed first….if that means anything. Fellow Roman Catholic(Pitt) alum Brad Wanamaker should give him a ring.
