Another former Pitt Panther player is cashing in on a lucrative contract extension.
Right tackle Brian O’Neill was entering the last season of his rookie contract with the Minnesota Vikings and today the two sides agreed on a contract extension. Per Adam Schefter, O’Neil and Minnesota agree on a 5-year, $92.5 million deal. This contract makes O’Neill the second-highest paid right tackle in the NFL.
The former 2nd round pick started all 16 games for Minnesota last season and is considered to be their best offensive lineman. Pro Football Focus rates O’Neil the No. 24 offensive tackle in the NFL.
Over the last few seasons, defensive tackle Aaron Donald signed a six-year, $135 million contract extension ($87 million guaranteed) with the Los Angeles Rams and wide receiver Tyler Boyd signed a 4-year, $43 million extension with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Vikings open up on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Zounds! Good for him.
Hope his agent got 2/3rds guaranteed. Teams like the Stealers sign these mega contracts with no intend of fulfilling their end of the unguaranteed contract.

Not bad for being the 24th ranked tackle in the NFL. Fantastic job Brian O’Neill’s agent!
