KNOXVILLE, TN. — Pitt got a somewhat ugly win over Tennessee on Saturday, escaping Neyland Stadium with a 41-34 victory after two late-game defensive stops and a sparking performance by quarterback Kenny Pickett.
The flip side to that is missed opportunities, as Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel felt his squad let one slip away against the Panthers.
“A ton of things that had the opportunity to change the course of the football game, from a communication side to turnovers to opportunities in the red zone that we didn’t take advantage of,” he said. “Throughout the course of it, early in the first quarter and defensively, we played really well and didn’t take advantage of some of the opportunities that we had on offense.”
