The No. 4 Pitt volleyball team continued their torrid start Friday afternoon against Marshall.
Taking part in the Comfort Inn-vitational —held in Morehead, Kentucky— the Panthers jumped out to a hot start and never allowed the Thundering Herd to storm back at any point.
Pitt easily took the first set 25-10 after recording a .600 hitting percentages one of the Panthers’ main driving forces behind their early undefeated season. Marshall played a tad better in the second set, but Pitt still held all control, ending the set on a 5-0 run to claim a 25-13 victory.
The Thundering Herd made it interesting to end the match, but the Blue and Gold improved to 9-0 with a 25-20 win in the third set to win the match 3-0 in only sixty-six minutes. Chinaza Ndee led Pitt with 11 kills on 22 attempts, and Sabrina Starks recorded an efficient six kills on seven swings.
Pitt will take on host Morehead State Saturday at 2 p.m. before preparing for the ACC opener in Chapel Hill, North Carolina against the UNC Tar Heels.
