The Pitt Panthers (3-1) will open up ACC conference play this Saturday as they travel to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-2) at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The two teams met last season with the Panthers coming out on top, 34-20.
This is a big game for Pitt as they want to start off conference play strong but will have to do so with the first two games being away from Heinz Field. Following the Georgia Tech game, Pitt will have a week off before taking on Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia on October 16.
Not only is this a big game for the Panthers 2021 season, it’s a big game for a number of number of Panther players who will be coming home.
A few years ago, Pat Narduzzi made the decision to expand the Pitt football recruiting territory into the talent rich state of Georgia. While recruiting a player is a team effort, the responsibility of recruiting Georgia was led by Pitt secondary coach Archie Collins.
This has no doubt been a successful strategy by Narduzzi as Pitt has been able to land a number of commitments and have established solid relationships with coaches and schools that will benefit them for years to come.
Here’s a rundown of the Pitt players that will be going home this weekend:
*Jaylon Barden, WR, Westside High School in Macon, Georgia (Class of 2020)
*Hunter Sellers, DB, Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia (Class of 2020)
*Rashad Battle, DB, Creekside High School in Fairburn, Georgia (Class of 2020)
*Preston Lavant, LB, Crisp County High School in Cordele, Georgia (Class of 2021)
*Khalil Anderson, DB, Riverwood High School in Atlanta, Georgia (Class of 2021)
*Ryland Gandy, DB, Buford High School in Buford, Georgia (Verbal Commitment for Class of 2022)
