Another day, another win for the No. 2 Pitt volleyball program.
In the team’s first home ACC match, the Panthers (13-0, 3-0 ACC) took down Virginia (8-5, 1-2) and continued their dominate start to the 2021 fall season.
The two teams battled for most of the first set before the Panthers, like most other challenging situations, pulled away late to claim a 25-19 win.
Up 1-0 in the match, the Blue and Gold dominated set two, up 17-5 on the Cavaliers at one point, as Serena Gray and Chinaza Ndee drove the Panthers in the right direction. Pitt claimed the second set 25-15.
The third set was one in the same with the previously one, finishing 25-15 and Gray once again the driving force behind Pitt’s victory. She finishing the match hitting an eye-popping .692 with nine kills on 13 swings.
Gray, Ndee, and Kayla Lund have been excellent and clutch when Pitt has needed them most, providing the number two team in the country a legitimately romising opportunity at a national championship.
The Panthers return to the court Friday night at 7 p.m. hosting Duke.
