Davison Igbinosun is someone that the Pitt coaching staff targeted early and has been diligently recruiting for a while now.
Their relationship got serious when Tim Salem and the Panthers officially became one of the first programs to extend him an offer, which was back in March of 2020. This summer, Igbinosun made an official visit to Pitt but closed his recruitment on July 3rd when he committed to Greg Schiano and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Things changed today as Igbinosun announced his decision to re-open his recruitment.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for putting me in this position. I want to thank Coach Schiano and Coach Fran for being one of the first few coaches to believe in my athletic abilities enough to offer me a scholarship. After talking it over with my loved ones, at this point in time it’s best for me and my family to re-open my recruitment and decommit from Rutgers University. I’m still considering Rutgers but I am also interested in evaluating other schools. Respect My Decision.”
While he was committed to Rutgers, Pittsburgh Sports Now can report that Salem and Pitt continued to pursue this talented defensive back and expect that to continue now that his recruitment is officially open again.
