Pitt Men’s Basketball Picked Next To Last in 2021 Preseason Poll

Coaches in all sports like to use the no respect card as a source of motivation for their team. Jeff Capel will no doubt have that opportunity with this years team.

Tuesday morning, the official 2021 ACC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll was released and the Pitt Panthers were picked to finish next to last in the ACC. This poll was selected by media members at last weeks ACC Tipoff event.

Here is the order of finish that was predicted for the upcoming season.

2) Florida State
3) North Carolina
4) Virginia
5) Virginia Tech
6) Louisville
7) Syracuse
8) Notre Dame
9) NC State
10) Georgia Tech
11) Clemson
12) Miami
13) Wake Forest
14) PITT
15) Boston College

Last season, Pitt finished with an overall record of 10-12 and 6-10 in the ACC, which was good for 12th place in the conference.

In terms of individual player predictions, here are the predictions for First and Second All-ACC, along with Player of the Year predictions.

This wouldn’t be a surprise. When the rubber meets the road, smoke and mirrors from the HC isn’t going to get this program very far.

It’s hard to disagree. I think 11th or 12th place for this team would be the ceiling. Hugley takes the next step IMO and has a big time season but this just isn’t a deep roster.

ouch. going in the wrong direction, although the loss of JC probably contributed somewhat. it’s way too early for this stuff. 14th would surprise me. maybe 11-13, which isn’t really that different (2-3 wins separate 12 & 15 ?)
