Commitment No. 12 is in for Pitt as they pick up a linebacker from New Jersey.

2022 3-star linebacker Kyle Louis (6-foot, 200 pounds) from East Orange, New Jersey announced Monday night that he was de-committing from Temple and joining Pitt’s Class of 2022. Louis originally committed to Temple back on June 25.

Louis was committed to Temple but was drawing interest from Power Five programs. In fact, Louis also held offers from Pitt, Penn State, Maryland and West Virginia. Louis received his offer from Pitt and Ryan Manalac back on April 16.

Due to this athleticism, Louis was playing cornerback, safety, linebacker and defensive end from his high school program in New Jersey. Louis is expected to play outside linebacker at Pitt. Aside from excelling on the football field, Louis is also a track standout and runs in the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, and relay events.

In seven games this season, Louis has recorded 73 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and has scored 4 touchdowns (one punt return, two receiving and one rushing).

Of Pitt’s 12 commitments, Louis becomes the Panthers fifth one on the defensive side of the ball, joining 3-star defensive tackle Sean FitzSimmons, 3-star defensive end Jimmy Scott, 3-star cornerback Ryland Gandy and 3-star linebacker Marquan Pope.

The Panthers have picked up a couple commitments from New Jersey linebackers over the last few years- Phil Campbell (Monmouth Junction, New Jersey), Sirvocea Dennis (Hightstown, New Jersey) and Solomon DeShields (Millville, New Jersey).

Was he at the game Saturday, Mike? Think that game could pay big dividends in recruiting if we keep winning.
