Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi called out his linebackers during his Monday press conference, citing them as a group that Miami beat in many facets of the game during the team’s loss on Saturday, Oct. 30.
In practice the next day, the linebackers devoted a good deal of time to getting off of blocks to tackle ball carriers in the backfield. They also practice their agility and lateral movement, paired with recovering fumbles and making interceptions.
Narduzzi also said that Miami players were able to get in his team’s head through trash talk, and that he would make it a point of focus in practices moving forward. He was true to his word, as players took delight in jawing back and forth at one another throughout the media viewing period.
Lastly, the group worked with linebackers coach Ryan Manalac on how to blitz an opposing offensive line.
