In somewhat of a surprise move, Pitt linebacker Wendell Davis has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
The junior from Virginia played in eight games and made three starts this season, registering 27 tackles, 1 sack, 1 hurry and 3.5 tackles for loss.
Davis was splitting time with Sir’Vocea Dennis for much of the season but last week against Miami, Davis was benched following his missed tackle on running back Jaylan Knighton’s 51-yard touchdown run.
Dennis will take over as the full time starter and Brandon George will move in as his backup, Davis has already used up his redshirt season but will still have two seasons of athletic eligibility remaining.
Davis was a three-star recruit in Pitt’s Class of 2018 out of Benedictine High School in Richmond, Virginia and ended up signing with Pitt over other offers from Duke, Indiana, Michigan State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Wake Forest and West Virginia.
Get benched then decide to transfer. How soft can you be? Good riddance.
What a snowflake. Much rather see Sir’Vocea full time.
If missing tackles gets you benched, hopefully Hallett is next.
Buh-Bye Snowflake.
Hope we replace him with a Safety! We have way too many slow LBs who can’t cover and not enough Safeties on the field!
getting benched an decide to transfer is a bad Omen! Show you are a soul loser an can
t taken your punishment .That
s a very lame excuse to quit on your team.I have always been waiting for him to explode into a star. I guess it was never going to happen, It really hurts Pitt’s depth but not a huge loss at the end of the day.
Knighton td run was 40 yards, but 51
Whatever happened to the days where parents could discipline their children, coaches could bench players for unacceptable performance, and teachers could use paddles to discipline when necessary. Nowadays, it’s parental abuse, the easy way out transfer portal, and teachers suspended or fired. I must’ve missed the boat on when society changed.
Congratulations on achieving your degree, good luck in your future endeavors and you will always be a Pitt Panther.
