Report: Former Pitt Center Jimmy Morrisey Will Make First NFL Start

Published

on

With a glut of injuries on the Houston Texans’ offensive line, former Pitt center Jimmy Morrisey will make his first NFL start today for the Texans against the Minnesota Vikings, according to Texans’ reporter Aaron Wilson.

Morrisey, a seventh-round selection of the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2021 NFL Draft, was signed off the Raiders’ practice squad earlier this season. While Morrisey likely wasn’t expected to make an impact so early in his NFL career, his early opportunity comes after three excellent seasons across Pitt’s offensive line.

The Burlsworth Trophy winner in 2020, the most outstanding walk-on in college football, started 47 games for Pitt — earning All-ACC honors in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Good for him. He will end up with a better career than the guy the Steelers drafted.
