West Virginia wins the return of the Backyard Brawl over Pitt 74-59.

While the Mountaineers eventually took care of business, Mike Asti is joined by Alan Saunders on Pittsburgh Sports Live to discuss what kept Pitt somewhat in the game early, what were the positives from this performance compared to the season opener against Citadel for the Panthers and what aspect of their game will likely hold WVU back this season.

This team would be pretty good if it had it’s full roster. The early games have been rough, but the silver-lining is that guys are getting valuable minutes that they would otherwise not be getting. The most significant example of that is Will Jeffress – who is growing at an accelerated rate. He is already a terrific defender, his offense is improving, he’s working his ass off, and he is clearly becoming a leader. He is going to be a star, and when they get guys back in the backcourt they’re going to ultimately be pretty good.
