SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Pitt football team didn’t have a ton to play for on Saturday night against the Orange, with their ACC Coastal Division title already wrapped up and an ACC Championship Date with Wake Forest awaiting them the following week, win or lose.
The one thing that Pitt did have a play for was a 10-win regular season, the first in team history since 1981. They rallied around that cause.
“It’s been 40 years,” redshirt junior defensive tackle Tyler Bentley said. “That’s long enough.”
“This is a legacy game.” senior quarterback Kenny Pickett said. “We’ll go down in history as one of the teams to win 10 games. It’s been since 1981. It’s really, really special.”
