PIAA Semifinal Locations Announced Across Pennsylvania

Following a weekend of football at Heinz Field to determine the WPIAL champions across Class 1-A through 5-A, the 2021 WPIAL champs have been determined and now know where they’ll be going for their PIAA semifinals matchups.

WPIAL 1-A champ Bishop Canevin will be traveling to North Hills’ Martorelli Stadium to take on Redbank Valley on Friday at 7 p.m. Bishop Canevin knocked off Our Lady of Sacred Heart last Friday to reach the state playoffs.

WPIAL 2-A champ Serra Catholic will take on Farrell at Slippery Rock University’s Mihalik-Thompson Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. Serra Catholic defeated defending WPIAL champion Beaver Falls last Friday night to earn the opportunity.

WPIAL 3-A champ Central Valley earned a home game at Central Valley Football Stadium against Martinsburg Central Friday at 7 p.m. Central Valley took down North Catholic last Friday to clinch a third consecutive WPIAL title and earn the chance to repeat as state champions.

WPIAL 4-A champ Aliquippa’s journey will continue out east to Central Cambria’s Central Cambria Football Field in Ebensburg, Pa. against Jersey Shore Friday at 7 p.m. Aliquippa defeated unbeaten Belle Vernon to win 4-A as a 1-A sized school and advance to the state playoffs.

WPIAL 5-A champ Penn-Trafford also continues out east to Bald Eagle’s Alumni Stadium in Bellefonte, Pa. against Exeter Township Friday at 7 p.m. Penn-Trafford ended Moon’s unbeaten season to win its first WPIAL title and advance to the state semis.

WPIAL 6-A champ Mt. Lebanon completes the trend of WPIAL schools going out east, with Lebo traveling to Altoona’s Mansion Park Stadium to take on State College on Saturday at 1 p.m. Mt. Lebanon defeated Central Catholic to win the WPIAL title and knocked off McDowell in the quarterfinals to advance to the semis.

Each WPIAL school will compete for the chance to advance to Hershey, Pa. in two weeks for a chance at the PIAA title.
