Pitt Commit Jimmy Scott Meeting with Pat Narduzzi Tonight, Excited About Future

Prior to Saturday night, the Pitt football coaches were out trying to recruit players selling them on the direction of the program and how they hoped to compete for a championship.

They message changed on Sunday when they hit the recruiting trail as they’re now able to tell prospective recruits that they’d be playing for the 2021 ACC Champions as Pat Narduzzi’s team beat Wake Forest, 45-21. The Panthers coaches have the ability to sell high school players on the real ability of developing them for the NFL but now can tell them they can win championships while at Pitt.

No doubt Pitt 2022 commitments were tuned in to watch their future Saturday night and that included 3-star defensive end Jimmy Scott from Buffalo, New York. Scott was a big get for Pitt as he’ll add to their talented depth on the defensive line. Before deciding on Pitt, he held offers from Tennessee, Arizona State, Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan State, NC State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Boston College, Rutgers and West Virginia.

Pittsburgh Sports Now caught up with Scott on Monday afternoon and got his thoughts on the 2021 ACC Football Champions and his in-home meeting tonight with Pat Narduzzi and Tim Salem.

“It was great to watch and just a great game,” said Scott. “From the pick six at the end to Kenny’s fake slide, it was just a great game to watch. It was an exciting moment for the Pitt program and to win the ACC Championships was huge. To know that I’m going to be a part of that program is exciting. I knew what I was getting into when I committed to Pitt originally. Coaches like Coach Bates and Coach Partridge, that’s why they’re top coaches in the ACC and probably in the country. It was great seeing how the defense played Saturday and really how they’re played the last few years. It’s really been impressive and I’m glad I made the right decision.”

Scott committed to Salem and Pitt back in June and he tells me that the entire staff has done a great job of continuing to recruit him and to further develop their strong relationship.

“Coach P, Coach Duzzi and Coach Salem we all have developed a really good relationship, especially Coach Salem because he’s the one that offered me,” said Scott. “We talk pretty often, especially Coach Salem. We get on zoom calls and talk about Coach P about the defense, I also talk with Coach Duzzi a couple times a week. I’m really glad that I’m going to be able to see him tonight.”

“Although I’ve been on visits pretty much all around the country, this will be my first home visit. I’m really excited for it. I haven’t seen Coach Duzzi since the Miami game so it’ll be good to see and be able to talk to him face-to-face with him.”
