4-Star WR Camden Brown Recaps His In-Home Visit With Pitt Coaching Staff

It’s less than a week until National Signing Day, which means the pressure is rising for uncommitted high school players to make their college decisions.

That’s especially true for highly recruited and ranked players like 4-star wide receiver Camden Brown.

It’s been quite a last couple of weeks for Brown as he was elevated to a 4-star recruit by Rivals. The Fort Lauderdale native also narrowed his long list of offers down to five schools: Pitt, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida State and Georgia. Over the last two weeks, Brown has gone on official visits and hosted coaches for in-home visits, including Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt Panthers last night.

Brown originally committed to Pitt back in June but then made the decision to decommit last week. This decision wasn’t done because of any unhappiness with Pitt and their program. Brown received a lot of offers late in the season, like from Georgia, and wants to be completely sure about his decision next Wednesday.

Brown and his family hosted members of the Pitt staff, which included Narduzzi, Brennan Marion and Charlie Partridge.

Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke this morning with Brown before he started school, in order to get his thoughts on the evening with the Pitt coaches and what message they had for him. We also talked about what this last month has been like for him and the pressure that’s on him.

“I really just feel blessed with everything that’s happening with me right now,” said Brown. “I feel that God has a plan for me and I’m just going to follow it. To be honest, this has also been hard. My dad and I really get and feel stressed over time. It has been stressful.”

“Last night with Pitt, it really just felt like we had a connection. We all had a connection. Even my grandma, it felt like they had a connection with her. It was just felt like family.”

Because of his official visit to Pitt, this wasn’t the first time that Brown spent quality time with the Panther staff but this was their last opportunity to make their final recruiting pitch in-person. I asked Brown what message or point that they tried to get through to him.

“I’m a go-getter, I love to get the ball in my hands,” said Brown. “I love to lay out for the ball, I love to attack the ball and stuff like that. Most of the other schools that are recruiting me and coming to the house don’t pass the ball like Pitt does. I’ve been watching video of that but Pitt, they pass the ball 90% of the time, which I like. They brought up Jordan Addison and all the positives. Him and Coach Marion have a great bond. They also told me that if he didn’t get home sick then you won’t get home sick, that was the main things.”

Although an exact location and time haven’t finalized yet, Brown will make his final decision next Wednesday. While coaches will no doubt be recruiting him up until the end, it sounds like a decision has already been made.

“My mind is already made up.”
