Big news could be coming for the Pitt football program this weekend.
On the final weekend before December National Signing Day, Pitt has been able to get 4-star Florida State quarterback transfer Chubba Purdy to make an official visit.

Purdy confirmed that to PSN as he was driving to the airport from his home in Arizona. Purdy is making the visit with his mother and father.
Although it’s not crucial, it’s definitely a plus for Pitt to get Purdy to visit Pittsburgh before he makes his decision. After this weekend, on-campus visits are not permitted again until mid-January. It’s reasonable to assume that Purdy wants to make a decision before then so he can officially join his new team and start to get acclimated.
Despite losing star quarterback Kenny Pickett, Pitt will return a strong nucleus next season and Pat Narduzzi is in a win now mode and likely senses the opportunity to contend for another ACC Title.
The question is does he believe the potential of Purdy gives his team the best opportunity to do that?
Wherever this talented quarterback ends up, he’ll have four seasons of athletic eligibility remaining. If he ends up at Pitt, that will no doubt create roster turnover on the quarterback depth chart.
As things currently stand, that depth chart consists of Nick Patti, Davis Beville, Joey Yellen and Nate Yarnell.
Just some clarification. I realize he still has 3 years to play. However, his class is “junior”. Does that mean he can turn pro after playing one more year? Not that he would, just asking.
Yes. A player must be out of high school for 3 years before he can turn pro, just like Larry did.
People are sleeping on Davis Beville but he looked really good in the Spring Game. Izzy and Beville looked great in April. Wish he would get a look.
I’ve wanted Beville to be the guy for some time, well until Kenny did his 180 this year. Just haven’t seen near enough from him to have confidence he can lead us to anything next season. He’s still a work in progress and we’re in a win now mode.
Purdy doesn’t have much more playing time than Davis Beville. The advantage of having Purdy, would be depth. Davis was a four star recruit. Both guys have a high ceiling. From what I saw of Beville, I believe he could be great.
Of course, the weather is going to suck Saturday.
The weather sucks every single day in PA during these months. Don’t miss that depressing state one bit and it’s the reason we go back this time of year to visit family. An easy reminder of how miserable it gets…
It’s currently 61 and sunny. Just sayin.
Much love to anybody willing to scrap their mask on a plane! I like this kid already.
How do you think they’re going to sell the offense when they don’t have an OC? Unless they do, and they’re not releasing it yet?
Coach Salem, or, coach Marion already have the job. With their resumes, both could run an excellent offense.
Not hard when you have the Biletnikoff winner on your roster and a future all-american tight end and RB.
I think I would want to be able to throw balls to Jordan Addison, Bartholomew and the rest of the Pitt WR’s. Plus Pitt’s uniforms are ultra cool.
If I was Narduzzi I would also let it be known to the QB transferring from Syracuse he can have a home in Pittsburgh. He’s a gutty kid with a live arm who was stuck on a terrible team last year. Look at his stats from 2020.
