Perry 4-Star DE Tyreese Fearbry Signs With Kentucky

PITTSBURGH — Four-star defensive lineman Tyreese Fearbry officially signed on with the Kentucky Wildcats as part of National Signing Day on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Fearbry said that he decided on Kentucky in large part because of defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Brad White.

“Coach White’s a great guy, being coached by a man like him,” Fearbry said. “He wants the best for his players, he wants the best for the Kentucky program.”

Fearbry said that White’s style of leadership appealed to him because he emphasizes personal growth as well as growth on the gridiron.

“He wants us to play football, but also succeed in life,” Fearbry said. “Growing as a man, he can help me out with that as well.”

Although Fearbry had the opportunity to transfer from Perry to another WPIAL school with a larger football program, he decided to stay in the City League. Now preparing to play in the SEC, college football’s premier conference, Fearbry holds onto his humble beginning.

“I’m just a kid from Perry. I’m just a kid coming from the North Side,” Fearbry said. “It’s pretty big. Not a lot of kids here get recruited out of the City League. It just means a lot, me being picked out.”

Fearbry said that he’s excited for the level of independence that college brings, as well as the chance to go to school out of state.

“Going down [to Lexington], being away from Pittsburgh for a little while, just growing on my own, that means a lot to me,” Fearbry said. “I just can’t wait to get back down there in June.”

So Pitt wins the ACC and can’t seem to capitalize on their success. What gives?

I know that with Super Seniors and a backlog of talent they has less scholarships to give but this class seems disappointing.

What’s the silver lining?

I think you alluded to it in your message…the backlog of talent. With money being thrown around now, more kids will go where they can get better NIL deals. ACC champs or not I definitely think Auburn pays better.

I agree with you on this. This class seems disappointing. I was really hoping that the acc championship would bring in more 4 star kids and get Pitt a few kids inside the top 300. It’s going to be hard for Pitt to consistently win in the acc without getting a few kids inside the top 300 recruits.
Maybe the recruiting will really start picking up next year as most of the top kids didn’t have Pitt on their radar this year.

Some kids just want or need to go away from home. Would have loved to have you on this roster but lots of luck.
Pitt will continue to place d-line players in the nfl…
