Credit Tim Salem for the recruitment of Okunlola, as he was his lead recruiter and also Charlie Partridge, who developed a solid relationship with him.
When talking about why he selected Pitt, Okunlola mentioned “I love what they do on defense. They get after the quarterback, I believe they were second in the country sacking the quarterback, which is what I love to do.”
Because of his private nature, Okunlola’s recruitment didn’t get but attention but he’s someone that the Pitt staff has been pursuing for quite a while. Back during the weekend of September 17, Okunlola made his official visit to Pitt. He also visited Georgia, Colorado and Virginia. His most recent official visit was to Colorado.
This pass-rushing specialist just adds to the depth that Pitt has been able to accumulate over the last few seasons with highly rated rates such as Nakhai Johnson, Dayon Hayes, Naquan Brown, Elliot Donald and Dorien Ford.
Okunlola becomes the 11th member of Pitt’s Class of 2022 and although it’s a small class by numbers, Pitt has added three talented defensive lineman in Okunlola, defensive end Jimmy Scott and defensive tackle Sean FitzSimmons.
