Since Miami hired Mario Cristobal as their new head football coach, rumors have circulated regarding Pitt defensive line coach Charlie Partridge.
Various people have linked the two sides, especially with Partridge’s ties to the state of Florida and with the Hurricanes reportedly investing more resources into their football program.
The most popular rumor is that Partridge has spoken with Cristobal and that he extended him a lucrative offer to join the Hurricane staff and that Pitt is on the clock in order to match the offer.
A very reliable source tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that “Partridge has not engaged in ANY talks with Miami. That is totally made up. Hopefully this will quiet the silliness.”
It’s not a surprise that anytime a defensive line or defensive coordinator position becomes available that Partridge’s name immediately is brought up. The 2020 College Defensive Line Coach of the Year is recognized nationally as one of the top position coaches and top recruiters in the country.
Pat Narduzzi and Pitt recognize his importance to the program and have addressed his contract on multiple times when he’s been approached by other programs, most notably a couple of years ago by Nick Saban and Alabama.
Why go to Coral Gables – Miami is a joke of a school, and they will eventually get caught cheating. Its a dead end for coaching in the modern era.
Nobody gets caught cheating anymore
Give him a blank check.
Charlie is a Plantation guy. Born and raised. I hope this issue is addressed and there are no legs to this story, but I won’t be surprised if he leaves either.
H2P
Sounds like Narduzzi said “half of recruiting is negative”. Maybe someone in Florida wants to dispose of Pitt’s influence.
