Robert Morris men’s basketball will begin the New Year in a different capacity than originally anticipated.
RMU Athletics has announced the cancellation of Saturday’s game at Detroit Mercy due to COVID-19 issues within the Titans’ program.
Detroit Mercy experienced Tier I members testing positive, resulting in the delay of RMU’s fourth conference game.
The program was granted its request for the RMU and Youngstown State (Dec. 30) games to be dubbed no contests by Horizon League commissioner Julie Roe Lach. The commissioner issued the no contest, instead of issuing forfeits, due to the rise in “breakthrough cases” of the Omicron variant.
The Colonials will next face Detroit Mercy on Feb. 9 at the UPMC Events Center.
Other changes may be made to the Horizon League schedule moving forward as well.
