The combination of freshman Jackie Johnson and Primo Spears were key figures in Duquesne’s win at UMass and one of those players is getting some conference recognition.

Following his 27-point performance on Saturday, Johnson was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week. The 5’11” guard finished the game against the Minutemen with a game-high 27 points, which was his second 27-point game of the season. A majority of Johnson’s production came in the second half, when he scored 16 points, including a crucial basketball with :10 seconds left that extended Duquesne’s lead back to 5 points.
