Kenny Pickett Lands in Interesting Location in PFF’s Latest Mock Draft

Kirk Cousins is under contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2022, but it appears PFF feels the Vikings may reset with a new general manager and head coach coming in next season after Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer were fired Monday morning.

PFF’s Michael Renner slotted Pickett to the Minnesota Vikings with the 12th selection in the 2022 NFL Draft — the second quarterback selected behind North Carolina’s Sam Howell winding up with the Carolina Panthers.

While Cousins is a lightning-rod for criticism among NFL fans, he is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,221 yards and 33 touchdowns, completing 66 percent of his passing attempts. However, with a $45 million cap hit next season and Minnesota seemingly hitting a wall, perhaps Cousins and the Vikings could mutually agree upon a trade if the opportunity arises.

Depending on what direction Minnesota wants to take this offseason, it could potentially open the door for the Vikings to select a quarterback in this season’s draft.

If Pickett is selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, as he’s slated to do according to many analysts, he could do a lot worse than Minnesota. With a star running back in Dalvin Cook and a burgeoning superstar wide receiver in Justin Jefferson.

Pickett will get a chance to boost his draft stock at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama at the be beginning of February — capped off with the actual Senior Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 5.
