On Thursday night, RMU extended an offer to an intriguing guard by the name of TJ Wainwright.
Wainwright, a 6-foot-3 point guard, plays for Montverde Academy’s Post-Grad Team. He is initially from Los Angeles, California, and since taking his talents to Montverde in Florida, he has seen his recruitment pick up steam.
“This offer means a lot to me because the coaching staff made it their priority to build a relationship with me first and really got to know me,” Wainwright said about the RMU offer. “Coach Iuzzolino came down for a practice and I got to have a great conversation with him while he was down here. I talk to coach Toole frequently as well and I also enjoy our conversations. It just shows how hard work is starting to pay off cause lord knows I give it my all.”
Wainwright also told PSN that he is going to visit Robert Morris sometime in February, although he does not know the exact date yet.
According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Wainwright is ranked as the No. 265 prospect in the class of 2022. He is being recruited by DePaul, Portland State, NJIT, and even heard from Pitt as well a few weeks back.
“I am a straight competitor,” Wainwright said about his game. “I’ll do whatever it takes to win the game. I am a scorer first, but coming to Montverde I learned how to become more of a playmaker and a creator for others.”
