The Pitt volleyball program embarked on a season for the ages in 2021, reaching the NCAA Final Four and compiling a 30-4 overall record.
After losing in four sets to Nebraska to conclude the Panthers most historic year, the attention shifts to maintaining similar success for years to come.
Pitt has just taken one of the first critical steps in doing so.
Former Iowa right side hitter Courtney Buzzerio announced Wednesday night she is transferring to Pitt for her fifth year of eligibility.
She was named Second Team All-Big Ten leading the Hawkeyes in kills (436) and aces (30) appearing in all 107 sets and was named First Team All-Big Ten in the spring.
Buzzerio was named AVCA All-North Region in December to become the first Iowa player to be awarded twice. The Hawkeyes finished the 2021 season 6-24 overall and 4-16 in Big Ten action.
The 6’5” Chino Hills, California native also has experience setting while in Iowa City compiling 640 assists over four seasons. Buzzerio has compiled 926 kills in 2412 total attacks and 82 service aces in 320 total sets.
Dan Fisher’s team looks to reload after Kayla Lund, Chinaza Ndee, Leketor Member-Meneh and other significant contributors played their final sets with the program this winter.
