Pitt WBB Offers 6-foot Wing Avery Strickland After Decommitment from WVU

Published

on

Just days after extending an offer to former West Virginia commit Marley Washenitz, Pitt women’s basketball head coach Lance White is now targeting another former Mountaineer commit, this time by the name of Avery Strickland.

Strickland is a 6-foot wing out of Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tennessee who requested and was granted her release from West Virginia just days ago after being committed there since Dec. 2020.

Shortly after, Pitt got involved and extended a scholarship offer to the senior.

A 2021 all-state selection, Strickland is a strong ball handler with a smooth jumper from just about everywhere on the floor. She excels at shooting off the dribble and also has the ability to drive past smaller defenders and finish in traffic at a high rate.

After the two, Strickland and Washenitz, both de-committed from WVU, they both took to social media to support each other in the process.
