Send It In, Jerome: Iconic Jerome Lane Dunk 34 Years Ago Today

Published

Jerome Lane

34 years ago, to this day, one of the most memorable moments in Pitt athletics history occurred when Jerome Lane threw down an iconic slam.

After the iconic slam that shattered the backboard in Pitt’s Fitzgerald Field House, famous hoops analyst Bill Raftery delivered a call on national TV that was just as iconic: “SEND IT IN, JEROME!”

Where does Lane’s slam rank among top Pittsburgh sports moments? Pitt fans, what are your memories from this game and were you in attendance? We’d love to hear your comments.

And all these years later, the phrase Send It In! stands for negative, moronic comments.

Raftery is a legend. Legendary calls are what legends produce. This was a legendary call. In your life???
