On Thursday night, Nike Sibande announced that he will return to Pitt to play another season for Jeff Capel and the Panthers on the Jeff Capel Radio Show, hosted by Jeff Hathhorn, on 93.7 The Fan.
“I am going to be back here,” Sibande said when asked what his plan for next year is. “Riding with Capel, man, and trying to get us a championship.”
Sibande was Pitt’s second-highest returning scorer last season, which was his first with the program after spending four seasons at Miami (OH).
Sibande tore his ACL in Pitt’s season-opening exhibition game against Gannon after averaging almost seven points per game for Pitt last season.
“It’s been a grind for sure,” Sibande said about the rehabilitation process. “Definitely just getting up, waking up every morning doing different things. Lots of quad work, strengthening legs. getting in the pool, doing different stuff that I really never did before this injury.”
I’d say this sucks and he’s wasting a scholarship, but Capel can’t find anybody else to use it…
