Top Pitt Football 2023 Recruiting Targets Make Rivals Top 250 Players

Despite taking in a small number of recruits for their Class of 2022 because of a limited number of available scholarships, Pitt did well as 4 of their 12 signees were ranked as 4-star recruits by either Rivals or 247 Sports.

At the end of the month, the recruiting dead period will end, and high school players will start making unofficial visits to schools that they have some initial interest in.

A number of players that the Pitt Panther staff are heavily pursuing showed up on Rivals list of Top 250 recruits in the Class of 2023.

Here are the major targets and also a few quarterbacks that offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr. extended an offer to over the last week.

RIVALS TOP 250 RECRUITS FOR THE CLASS OF 2023:

No. 64 Samson Okunlola: 4-star offensive tackle from Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts). Brother of Pitt 2022 4-star defensive end Samuel Okunlola.

No. 107 Rodney Gallagher: 4-star wide receiver from Laurel Highland High School. Has been a priority for Pitt since his freshman season.

No. 146 Ta’Mere Robinson: 4-star linebacker from Brashear High School. Pitt was the first school to offer Robinson during his freshman season, but they appear to have some catching up to do with Robinson. All indications are that a couple of the Big Ten schools are in the lead for Robinson, with Penn State leading the way.

No. 158 Rueben Bain: 4-star defensive end from Miami, Florida. Bain is the Panthers top defensive line target and the staff was excited that Bain made an unofficial visit to Pitt in January. Charlie Partridge is the lead recruiter for Bain.

No. 180 Jalen Thompson: 4-star defensive end from Detroit, Michigan. Pitt recently made Thompson’s Top 10 list and he plans on making a visit in the spring.

No. 194 Cole Dellinger: 4-star offensive guard from Clarkston, Michigan. Dellinger made an unofficial visit to Pitt last season for their game against Virginia.

No. 226 William Fowles: 4-star wide receiver from Miami, Florida. Fowles released his Top 10 schools today and Pitt made the initial cut.

Recent Quarterback Offers:
No. 54 Christopher Vizzina: 4-star quarterback from Birmingham, Alabama.

No. 228 JJ Kohl: 4-star quarterback from Ankeny, Iowa.

No. 235 Avery Jonson: 4-star quarterback from Maize, Kansas.

The pitt staff has done an excellent job to get the program this far, but to take the next step pitt is going to need to mix in some of these top talent guys.
If you start adding in 2-3 top 250 guys every year with a great program, then you can see this program become elite.
It’s really looking like the next decade could be a really fun time to be a pitt football fan.

I assume the photo is of Rodney Gallagher in his family, but I couldn’t find a caption for the photo accompanying the article. If I overlooked it, sorry. If you omitted it, please add it in future articles.
