Pitt Guard Jayla Everett Dismissed from Pitt Women’s Basketball Team

Pitt senior guard Jayla Everett was dismissed from the team Sunday according to a report from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Craig Meyer.

The reason for Everett’s dismissal is not known as of now, but Everett did not play in the last two games for the team, as she sat out due to coach’s decision.

Everett was the leading scorer for the Panthers the past two seasons, averaging 13.6 points per game in 20 contests this season and averaging 15.4 points per game in 19 contests last season.

With Everett dismissed, senior guard Ismini Prapa transferring and fifth year forward Mary Dunn graduating, Pitt has 11 players returning next season. The addition of Chartiers Valley guard Aislin Malcom, who was also nominated for the McDonald’s All-American game, gives the Panthers 12 players on the roster next year.

This gives head coach Lance White time to figure out who to go after on the recruiting trail and also who might be available in the transfer portal in the offseason. Pitt plays its final ACC road game against Virginia Sunday at 4 p.m. before finishing off the regular season with two ACC home games against Louisville and Florida State.

Never a good thing, when this late in the season, a player walks. She should be like Mo and be grateful she’s playing at Pitt and getting a free education.
