Pitt is still open to the idea of adding transfers to their 2022 roster.
The Panthers staff extended an offer over the weekend to Vanderbilt linebacker De’Rickey Wright, who entered the NCAA Transfer portal four days ago. Wright received the offer from linebackers coach Ryan Manalac.
The 6-foot-4, 230 pound outside linebacker was a 4-star recruit in the Class of 2020. Before eventually signing with Vanderbilt, the native of Gadsden, Alabama held offers from Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Virginia Tech. Prior to signing with Vanderbilt, Wright verbally committed to Alabama and Ole Miss before signing his letter of intent with the Commodores.

Last season, Wright had 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and two pass breakups. Wright will have three seasons of athletic eligibility remaining.
Following his decision to transfer, Wright has also received offers from Texas and Oklahoma State.
Pitt has already three players via the transfer route in quarterback Kedon Slovis (USC), wide receiver Konata Mumpfield (Akron) and linebacker Shayne Simon (Notre Dame).
Pitt is still looking to replace a handful of linebackers from their 2021 ACC championship team: Wendell Davis (transfer), Chase Pine (graduation), John Petrishen (graduation), Cam Bright (transfer), Leslie Smith (transfer) and AJ Roberts (transfer).
We need faster LBs for our system! Since we leave 3 LBs in the game a lot more than other teams, they need to be able to cover TEs and RBs better. H2P!
He’d be a good pickup at a position that we are shallow at. Will be interesting to see where he lands.
Aren’t they still 2 over the limit? If they get this guy I wonder who the 3 guys will be that get shown the door.
