Prepartions are officially underway for the start of the 2022 Pitt football season.
The defending ACC Champions took to the field this morning for the first of 14 spring practices, as they prepare to play the Blue/Gold Spring Game on Saturday, April 9 at Heinz Field.
Practice started Monday morning at 9:05 AM inside the UPMC Sports Complex and some members of the Panthers were taking part in their first official team practice.
The group of newcomers was led by two transfers- quarterback Kedon Slovis and wide receiver Konata Mumpfield. Slovis starts his quest to replace upcoming 1st round pick Kenny Pickett as the Panthers new starting quarterback. Considering the attention that defenses will pay to stopping Biletnikoff Award winner Jordan Addison, Mumpfield will have the opportunity to become the next star in the Panthers offense.
Along with Slovis, Mumpfield and Notre Dame transfer linebacker Shayne Simon, seven true freshmen, that were early enrollees, were also on the practice field for the first time.
Here are the jersey numbers for the newest Pitt Panthers, along with someone to elected to change his number.
