The Pitt women’s basketball team finished tied for 14th place in the ACC in the 2021-22 regular season and will face XXX as the No. 15 seed entering the 2022 ACC tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Panthers’ loss to Florida State on Sunday secured their fate, with Pitt finishing 2-16 in league play and tied for 14th with Virginia. The Cavaliers earned the No. 14 seed thanks to their head-to-head win over the Panthers.
Pitt will play No. 10 Duke in the first round of the ACC tournament at Greensboro Coliseum on Wednesday. That game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC regional sports networks.
The Blue Devils (7-11) beat the Panthers 54-39 at Petersen Events Center on Feb. 3. The winner of that game will play No. 7 Miami on Thursday in the second round at 6 p.m.
Pitt saw its overall fortunes increase in 2021-22, with the team more than doubling its overall win total by finishing 11-18 in the regular season after going 5-14 in 2020-21. But in the ACC, things got worse, as Pitt dropped from 3-12 and a 12th-place finish last season to 2-16 and tied for 14th.
