Pitt Staff on the Road Recruiting, Checks Out Multiple Four-Star Prospects

Published

on

On Wednesday night, Pitt hoops staff took advantage of a few days off before its game against Notre Dame to get out on the recruiting trail.

Associate head coach Tim O’Toole was out watching South Kent School’s Papa Kante, one of the top bigs in the 2023 class.

O’Toole also checked out 2023 sharp-shooting wing Gavin Griffiths, who Pitt offered just last week. Griffiths is the highest rated target of the bunch, ranked as the No. 35 prospect in the class of 2023. Shortly after Pitt offered, Michigan followed with an offer. He is also being recruited by UConn, Creighton, and others.

In addition to O’Toole, head coach Jeff Capel and assistant coach Milan Brown were in attendance watching Baltimore St. Frances, a team that includes 6-foot-4 guards Carlton Carrington and Jahnathan Lamothe, two guards who have been on Pitt’s radar for a while.

Kante is ranked as a four-star prospect, and is No. 93 in the class of 2023, according to 247 Sports’ Composite.

Carrington, who visited Pitt in the fall, is ranked as the No. 146 player in the class of 2023. In addition to Pitt, he is also being recruited by LSU, DePaul, Rutgers, and more.

Lastly, Lamothe comes in at No. 85 in the class of 2023 as a four-star prospect. He is also being recruited by Maryland, Ohio State, Illinois, Seton Hall, and more, and has already taken a visit to Pitt in the past.

Wasted trip. Capel won’t land a single one of them…

He’s not going to sign anyone. Just racking up travel points and fleecing the school.

Capel is an honorable man, unlike some people who spend their life fleecing special needs individuals.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I’m glad Caple is recruiting some of the better players.
Pitt has gotten some in the past and will get more.

Perhaps Capel came to Pitt…to put a nail in Pitt’s coffin, basketball wise. He has accomplished NOTHING in 4 years while taking over $15 million shekels. And now has Pitt at 6 losing seasons, the worst time period in Pitt basketball for over 50 years.
