Just days after hearing from Pitt for the first time, Brown transfer Jaylan Gainey has continued to develop a relationship with assistant coach Jason Capel.
Gainey, a 6-foot-9 forward, averaged 9.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this year for Brown, along with 2.1 blocks. In his last two years, he took home two Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year awards. After deciding it was in his best interest to enter the transfer portal earlier this week, Gainey quickly heard from a long list of high major schools, including Pitt.
Capel has been on him since he entered the portal, and the two have been in consistent contact since.
“I’ve been in consistent contact with coach Jason Capel,” Gainey told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Plan on hopping on a zoom either this week or next week to meet the rest of the staff.”
According to 247 Sports, Gainey has also heard from schools such as Creighton, Georgetown, Penn State, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa State, Virginia Tech, and more.
Mediocre stats in the Ivy. Ok.
