On Friday, Pitt guard Onye Ezeakudo entered his name into the transfer portal after four years at Pitt.
Ezeakudo confirmed to Pittsburgh Sports Now that he will be graduating from Pitt this spring.
A former walk-on, he set career highs in just about every stat in this year, his senior campaign. Ezeakudo averaged 2.1 points per game and shot 38% from three, playing over 18 minutes per game.
The 6-foot guard is a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and attended Homestead High School before walking on at Pitt in Jeff Capel’s first season. After Pitt’s last game of the season, Capel confirmed that Ezeakudo would be moving on from the program, so this move is not much of a surprise. It opens up a fourth available scholarship for the Panthers for next season.
So this kid, was a walk-on who earned a scholarship. Pitt has no PG’s (sorry Okudale is not a PG just because he plays there), which is why Pitt is last in the ACC in assist/turnover ratio and among the worst in the entire nation. So this team needs PG’s…and this kid walks…despite earning a scholarship. Doesn’t say much for F, F & F.
Other than Pitt is F’d.
Capel is the expert on point gards. He will bring in a qualaty point gard from the portol.
”Point gard”. Ok. Capel is only an expert at obtaining well compensated coaching gigs and failing to perform
X Johnson & Femi Oducalley are proof that Capel can recruit point gards.
