The Citadel Sharp-Shooter Enters Portal, Possible Pitt Target

Published

on

On Monday, a familiar name to Pitt fans, Jason Roche, entered the transfer portal.

Roche, a. 6-foot-5, 180-pound wing, dropped 27 points back in the fall to lead The Citadel over Pitt in emphatic fashion. Roche only attempted three pointers in that game, hitting eight of his 14 attempts from beyond the arch.

Throughout the season, the freshman continued to light it up from deep, hitting 40% of his field goals and 40% of his three-point attempts. A 91% free-throw shooter, he averaged 13.2 points per game en route to winning SoCon Freshman of the Year honors.

Pitt did not have a single player (with more than one attempted three) that shot 40% from three-point land. The Panthers’ staff is actively searching for prospects at pretty much all positions this offseason, but shooting is certainly one of their priorities. Pitt ranked No. 283 in the nation last year in three-point percentage as a team, shooting just 31% from deep.

While PSN has not yet contacted Roche, he looks as though he is exactly what Pitt needs at the wing position.
