On Tuesday, Pitt forward Dan Oladapo entered the transfer portal after playing just one season for Pitt.
Oladapo played 15 games for Pitt this season, and started four. The former Oakland standout transferred in last summer, but could not quite carve out a big role for Pitt, especially towards the end of the season. On the year, he hit 20 of his 25 field goal attempts, an impressive 80% mark.
The senior also grabbed 29 rebounds this season in his lone year with the Panthers. After playing two years for Oakland and one year for Pitt, Oladapo will only have one year of eligibility remaining.
Dan Oladapo Adjusting to New Role, New Defensive Schemes at Pitt
Pitt now has five open scholarships for next season, as forward Mo Gueye does not have any eligibility left, and Chris Payton, Noah Collier, and Onyebuchi Ezeakudo have all entered the transfer portal. With the departures of Gueye, Payton, Collier, and Oladapo, Pitt is severely thin in its front court, with John Hugley and Max Amadasun being the only bigs left on the roster.
This was an interesting one …. when he came in, so much was made about his rebounding ability and solid game. For whatever reason, we never got to see that. It was puzzling that he couldn’t get more PT over Collier. Hope he finds a good spot next time around. Best wishes to him.
That Capel sure is a transformative recruiter
You gotta want to give your all but not to beat out another player. That’s not on the coach it’s on the player.Should have stayed at Oakland university.
We heard the first time. Capel’s not going anywhere. Move on.
I think he could have got a good amount of playing time next year had he stayed.
The 4 spot at pitt is open and needs filled. Now that oladapo is gone we don’t have anybody who plays that position. My hope is that jeffress can get stronger and eventually turn into a guy that can play the 4 spot much like Justin champagne did last year,
I wonder. I’m sure these guys talk and he already knew about collier leaving. Pt may not have been a given.
Oladapo, Collier and Payton couldn’t cut it in a big time program. They didn’t leave, they were shown the door. My question is Jeffries, plays strong defense and rebounding but lacks any confidence shooting. Today, I don’t see him stepping in Champagnie’s role. Mo was everything and more during his one season. I wish him the best.
