Report: Pitt Showing Interest in Citadel Transfer, Sharp-Shooter Jason Roche

Published

on

Last season, Pitt did not have a single shooter hit over 40% of his three-point attempts.

Mo Gueye was the only Panther to attempt more than 100 threes, and he hit 43 of his tries. With Gueye departing and the already-lacking outside threat from the rest of the roster, the Pitt staff is hitting the transfer portal to look for shooters at all positions.

According to a report by Jake Weingarten of StockRisers, Pitt is showing interest in The Citadel transfer Jason Roche, a 6-foot-5 sniper who has played just one year of college ball.

Roche’s stellar shooting numbers earned him SoCon Freshman of the Year this season, and deservedly so. He hit 110 of his 277 three-point attempts, a 40% mark. That means out of his 309 shot attempts on the year, 90% of them were of the three-point variety. He was the only freshman in America to hit over 74 threes this season, showing that he can shoot it with the best of them.

Pitt is currently looking to fill six open scholarships, and Roche is certainly looking like one of the staff’s priorities.

If he can shoot who cares where he’s from?
