Priority Recruit Philip Alston Visits Pitt, Checks Out Facilities

On Wednesday, Pitt target Philip Alston took a trip from California, PA up to Oakland to check out Pitt’s campus and facilities.

Alston had an in-home meeting with Jason Capel on Monday, and the two spoke about the role he would play if he decides to come to Pitt. Alston left the meeting pleased and planning to visit, which he is currently doing.

“Definitely love the facilities,” Alston told Pittsburgh Sports Now on Wednesday during his visit. “It’s a big jump from Cal and all the staff were great to talk to.”

“They want me to come in and be more of a 4 or 3 offensively and be able to guard many positions with my athleticism,” Alston said on Monday. “They want to work on my three point shot the most but just love my motor, athleticism and rebounding they think all of that translates at any level but he showed me clips of Mo and Justin Champagnie on where they see me as playing.”

Alston, who played two seasons at Cal U, averaged 21 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game this season.

Since entering the portal, he has heard from over 60 schools, and programs such as Ole Miss, Loyola Chicago, Akron, Kent State, and Pitt have all prioritized him the most.
