Months after de-committing from Pitt, four-star guard Judah Mintz has committed to ACC rival Syracuse.
Mintz, a 6-foot-4 guard from Washington D.C., plays his high school basketball from Oak Hill. After taking an official visit to Pitt last June, he committed to Jeff Capel and Pitt, becoming the first commitment in the 2022 class for the school.
Since then, Pitt has not earned any commitments from any other prospects in the class. The Panthers currently have one commitment in the 2023 class, as Marlon Barnes out of Cleveland committed during the winter.
Mintz now joins Syracuse over a final list of Wake Forest, DePaul, and the Orange. He is ranked as the No. 53 player in the nation according to the 247 Sports Composite rankings.
Good for him. He will be there 1 year then transfer out. Commitments mean nothing anymore on a year to year contract…..I meant 4 year scholarship.
“Since then, Pitt has not earned any commitments from any other prospects in the class.”
How is this possible? Is this common? I can’t remember anything like this before.
So lets keep him another year. Swallow your ego Lyke and push the reset button on mens hoops. Write the check. The cost will be worth it.
This guy makes Stallings look like a real go getter.
At this point I think Div 2 guys are turning Capel down.
The just had Nelly Cummings commit. He is a solid Division 1 established point guard. He is older, too so being a veteran helps, too. They are already better then last year. They played without a point guard all year.
Good for Judah. I think he should do well up there and look forward to seeing him play against us. It wasn’t the right time to come to Pitt and he probably is making the right decision.
