Former Pitt Target Efton Reid Enters Transfer Portal After One Season at LSU

On Thursday, Efton Reid entered the transfer portal just weeks after LSU head coach Will Wade was fired from the program.

Reid, a former Pitt target, averaged 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season in his freshman campaign down in Baton Rouge. The former five star prospect is from Virginia, and attended IMG Academy for his senior year.

Reid’s initial recruitment was known to be very confusing, as his mother delayed his commitment multiple times and not many people knew which schools he was favoring. Just weeks before he ended up deciding, Pittsburgh Sports Now learned that he was down to Ohio State, LSU, and Pitt for his decision.

Then, once he did decide to commit to LSU, PSN learned that Reid had informed Jeff Capel and his staff that he would be verbally committing to Pitt, however, he never followed through and eventually chose the Tigers. For LSU, Reid scored in double digits seven times this season, scoring a season-high 16 in the season opener against Louisiana Monroe. He shot 52% from the field this season, and 25% from three-point range.

I hope LSU didn’t pay too much for him, since they only got one season out of him.

He’s not worth the headache. I doubt he has any idea what being a grown up is unless his mother tells him. He was supposed to be this great 5 star recruit and only scored 7 points and 4 boards a game. He thought he was going to be 1 and done. Over hyped by his mother.

Pitt will look very foolish if they try to recruit him after what happened the first time.

In principle, I agree. But if he reaches out, said I made a mistake, and I’d like to play for you coach, I would bring him on board if I was Capel. A frontcourt with Reid and Hughley would solidify the paint and then Pitt can focus on a PG and shooters. Idk that I make the first contact if I’m Capel though.

Some of you are pretty funny. Pitt has one player. That’s it. If this guy wants to come to this dumpster fire and play, Coach Nepotism should welcome him with open arms.

Not surprising he wants to leave given the WW situation. I didn’t get to see him play but wow, he was less than 20 mpg. didn’t think the tigers were that stacked. also ft% is less than 50%. looks like he needs to develop more. not sure Pitt is the right place for him at this point.

Are you all kidding me in todays BB??? You take him! This is a no brainer.
The kid was strong armed by desperate for money family members and a corrupt LSU STAFF.
