As Pitt searches for players of all positions to fill its seven open scholarships, the staff is reaching out to many prospects in the transfer portal with previous college experience.
One of those prospects in the portal, former Coastal Carolina guard Rudi Williams, is hearing from a long list of schools, but told Pittsburgh Sports Now that Pitt is one of the schools that caught his eye.
Coastal Carolina Transfer Rudi Williams Looking for ‘Winning Culture’ at Next Destination
Williams is a 6-foot-3 guard who played two years of JuCo ball, one year at Kansas St., and this past year at Coastal Carolina. This past season, he averaged 14.7 points per game, shooting 55% from the field and 45% from three-point range. Over the course of his career, he has established himself as a high-level scorer and a solid rebounding guard, and is looking to use his scoring ability to take him to the next level.
“Ultimately, I’m trying to become a pro, so I want to prepare myself to do so by playing against the best of the best,” Williams told The Portal Report. “Really what I’m looking for in my next destination, I would just say somewhere with a winning culture. Winning is a must over there. I want to go somewhere I have a chance to play in the March Madness Tournament and somewhere I can get ready to become a pro and win a lot of ball games. That’s pretty much it and that was my reasoning behind wanting to transfer.”
Pitt has seven open spots for next year’s team due to Mo Gueye running out of eligibility and Onye Ezeakudo, Femi Odukale, Dan Oladapo, Max Amadasun, Noah Collier, and Ithiel Horton entering the transfer portal. So far, Collier has committed to William and Mary and Oladapo has committed to North Carolina Central.
Scrape. Scrape. Scrape.
Is this the 900th guy this site has reported pitt is interested in them
What happens to players that apply for the transfer/portal but are not picked up by another
school. They probably cannot return to their
original school if their scholarship has been
given to a new recruit.
Well we know the “Winning Tradition” lately isn’t Pitt’s Tradition.
