Former WVU Commit Fede Federiko Taking Official Visit to Pitt

Starting Friday, Pitt will be hosting JUCO prospect Fede Federiko on an official visit, Federiko told Pittsburgh Sports Now.

The former West Virginia commit stands at 6-foot-11, and played this past season for Northern Oklahoma College. There, he started 28 games and averaged 11.7 points per game, shooting 59% from the field and 57% from the free-throw line. He also grabbed 8.6 rebounds per game this season. Prior to his time at Northern Oklahoma, the South Sudan native played for First Love Christian Academy in Washington, PA.

“I’m a rim protector, a defensive guy. I can run the floor, finish around the rim and play above the rim,” Federiko told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I like to be athletic.”

Recently, Federiko quietly de-committed from Bob Huggins’ West Virginia program, and Pitt jumped in quickly to invite him on a visit and establish a relationship.

The Panthers have seven open scholarships to fill, and are currently thin in the front court with only John Hugley returning down low. Noah Collier, Max Amadasun, Dan Oladapo, and Mo Gueye are all moving on from the program, as the first three in that list hit the transfer portal and Gueye ran out of eligibility.
