Pitt will be hosting a second former Top 100 recruit on an upcoming official visit.

CBS Basketball Insider Jon Rothstein reports that former UConn 4-star forward Akok Akok will make an upcoming official visit to Pitt. Pittsburgh Sports Now is told that this comes following a conversation Akok has earlier this week with Jeff Capel.

Capel and Akok formed a relationship a couple years ago with Pitt recruited when he attended Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut. The 6’10” forward had Pitt as one of his finalists, along with Syracuse, Georgetown, Providence and UConn.

While in the Class of 2019, Akok was rated by 247 Sports as the No. 92 overall player and one of the Top 15 forwards.

Akok has battled injuries during his collegiate career but has been effective when healthy. In 23 games last season, Akok averaged 3.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in just 13 minutes of action. Before tearing his Achilles’ tendons as a freshman, Akok was averaging 5.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots per game.

One of Pitt’s top off-season priorities has been to add talented front court players to pair with sophomore John Hugley. Akok and 6’10” JUCO forward Fede Federiko would be huge additions for Pitt.

We first reported on Saturday, that Pitt will host former Ohio State guard Meechie this week.
