Pitt has added another member to its 2022 class, as forward Fede Federiko has committed to the program.
Federiko is a 6-foot-11 forward who was born in Cairo, Egypt and played last season at the junior college level. The former West Virginia commit played this past season for Northern Oklahoma College, where he started 28 games and averaged 11.7 points per game. Federiko shot 59% from the field and 57% from the free-throw line this season, and also grabbed 8.6 rebounds per game.
Before he played at Northern Oklahoma, Federiko played for First Love Christian Academy in Washington, Pa. Following his one season of junior college, Federiko will have three years of eligibility at Pitt.
“I’m a rim protector, a defensive guy. I can run the floor, finish around the rim and play above the rim,” Federiko told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I like to be athletic.”
After his recent de-commitment from West Virginia, Federiko took an official visit to Pitt last weekend, and quickly made up his mind after the visit. With the commitment of Federiko, Pitt has now landed three commitments this offseason, adding guard Nelly Cummings, forward Blake Hinson, and Federiko himself. The Panthers still have five open scholarships to fill, and will host 2022 forward Jorge and Guillermo Diaz-Graham this upcoming weekend on official visits in an attempt to fill two of those openings.
Huggins whole team either graduated or is in the transfer portal. It is not almost heaven there anymore.

Does this guy play the 4 or the 5?
I’m getting the feeling that John hughley is going to play the 4 spot next season as long as they can get 1 or 2 guys capable of playing the 5 spot.
He does not have the shooting ability of Gueye in anyway. Mo could hit 3 pointers and shot well from the line. This guy is offensively raw and at this point will be at best a solid rim protector. If they can pick up other players he would be great to redshirt.

He is a 5. He does not have the offensive skill set to be a power forward 4 or a stretch 4.
Thanks for the info.
He sounds a lot like M.Gueye. That kind of defense is great inn the ACC. Keep going coach Capel.
