Kenny Pickett’s performance last season led Pitt to their first ACC Championship and has put the Panthers back into the national spotlight.

On Saturday, Pitt extended an offer to sophomore 4-star quarterback Jake Merklinger from Calvary Day High School in Savannah, Georgia. The 6’3”, 195 pound Pro Style quarterback received the offer from assistant quarterback coach Jonathan DiBiaso.
Both Rivals and 247 Sports rank Merklinger as a Top 200 National recruit, with Rivals listing him as No. 178 and No. 150 by 247 Sports.
Merklinger also holds offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Michigan State, Central Florida, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Pitt has now offered eight sophomore quarterbacks: Merklinger, 4-star Elijah Brown (Santa Ana, California), 4-star Michael van Buren (Baltimore, Maryland), 4-star Cedrick Bailey Jr. (Hollywood, Florida), Judd Anderson (Gray, Georgia), Cody Pagach (Thompson Station, Tennessee), Jack Stupin (Tustin, California) and 4-star Isaiah Marshall (Southfield, Michigan).
