The Indianapolis Colts selected Yale defensive back Rodney Thomas II in the seventh round of the NFL draft on Saturday, April 30.
Thomas graduated from Central Catholic High School in 2017, and was part of the Vikings 2015 State Championship squad.
He played all over the field during his time in New Haven—primarily at free safety, but also as a slot corner and box safety/linebacker. At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Thomas probably won’t play linebacker in the NFL, but his versatility could help him secure a roster spot.
Thomas played 33 games during his Bulldogs career, making 19 starts, and earned first team All-Ivy League honors for his performance in 2021. He amassed six interceptions, 21 pass breakups and 133 total tackles as a Bulldog.
